Hoppy Trout Brewing Company is a brewpub located in Andrews, NC. We opened New Year’s Day of 2016, so we were literally the first brewery to open in NC in 2016. All our beer is brewed on premise which we sell in our pub with some self distribution in immediate area. We brew 1 BBL(barrel) batches at a time, 31 gallons, which classifies us as a nano brewery. We also offer a full-service pizza restaurant featuring a handmade Sicilian style brick oven.
The small batch approach to beer production allows us to take risks with flavors. We are constantly rotating our tap list with new experimental beers as well as maintaining a few flagships we try to always keep on tap. There is nothing we won’t put in beer. We have used the hottest peppers in the world, Himalayan sea salt, and even cake batter. We do our best to source local ingredients when available. We give a local farmer all our spent grain to feed his pigs.
Mountain Grounds is located at the base of Grandfather Mountain, 4 miles south of downtown Banner Elk. We exclusively serve locally-roasted coffee from Hatchet Coffee Roasters in Boone. We also carry a rotating selection of fresh-baked pastries from Stick Boy Bread Co. and a large variety of loose leaf teas by Adagio.
Stop in and enjoy a pizza or sandwich made with ingredients from Ashe and Watauga county farmers and purveyors. We work with local suppliers including Molley Chomper Hard Cider, Rose Mountain Butcher, Vannoy Hams, and Stickboy Breads to provide fresh and delicious food.
We now offer a selection of craft beer and cider and wines.

Casa Rustica fuses old-world Italian cuisine with the fresh flavors of the High Country. Since opening in 1981, Casa Rustica has become one of the most beloved restaurants in the area featuring global Italian fare with intimate fireside dining. The first Macado’s restaurant was opened in 1978 by Richard Macher in downtown Roanoke, Virginia. It soon became popular for its eclectic ambiance of cartoon, antique, and local nostalgic decor, as well as its wide array of hearty yet modestly-priced sandwiches, subs, and entrees.
Popular with the college crowd, the restaurant opened additional locations near Virginia Tech, Radford University, and Roanoke College. Locations were added at the rate of one or two per year, including those in neighboring West Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee.
Macado’s just recently opened its newest location in Winchester, Virginia.
The already-lengthy menu has been changed and expanded over the years, and several events have grown in popularity, such as the Macado’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day Party and the Macado’s Halloween Party. Loyal customers have made Macado’s part of their own traditions as well!

In the most surprising of places you find the most surprising of things. In the charming mountain town of Andrews, North Carolina, nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and guarding the entrance to the Nantahala Gorge, is the town’s first jail. It’s an old rock structure known as a Calaboose, and it is haunted with spirits. Heavenly craft-brewed beer and wine, to be exact.

JJ’s has been locally owned and operated by the Lyon family since 1981 and is now in its second generation. John Lyon started the business to bring some of the tastes of his hometown of Buffalo, New York to Western Maryland and his sons, Kris & Tim, are carrying on the tradition alongside him today.
We introduced Buffalo-style chicken wings to the area and have been known as THE PLACE FOR WINGS ever since. Every order is made from scratch and we strive to use local produce, poultry, and meats to bring you the freshest foods around.
